CASPEA Workshop Concept
A Short Introduction to the CASPEA Workshop Concept
The issues listed below are usually implemented with groups of about 30 to 40 persons, who work in plenary sessions and break out groups. To develop the full potential, the workshop takes 10-14 full days.
In addition to the core components, there are introductory sessions on the values of sport, approaches and examples of sport for development and peace building. Depending on the delegates’ fields of work, specific values which can be brought about through sports are incorporated into the workshop (e.g. healthy life styles, gender issues, inclusion of group members with disabilities) The core modules are followed by a session on practical and participatory methods for monitoring and evaluation. If possible, a try out day of planning and going for action is added (e.g. Kids’ Olympics or Charity Run).
None of the sessions is held in a lecture style. All components (systemic and sport) are designed to create lasting, imprinting effects through new own experiences and “wow-effects”. The introduced games are oriented towards movement and play in general and can be used for any specific sport training. The games listed below showcase the variety of possible transfer of the reflected values and issues .
There is a set of documents corresponding to the sessions, but not a manual in the conventional sense. Every time the review book develops anew, as results and participants’ suggestions and games are incorporated during the workshop.
The trainers and coaches come from different fields of expertise: Development Cooperation, Conflict Transformation, Organisational Development, Mediation, Sport Science, Sport Pedagogic and Competitive Sport. Where ever possible, we cooperate with local co-trainers.
